Believing that each and every child has been created in the image of God, New Hope Children's Home seeks to provide physical, spiritual and emotional care to the orphaned and abandoned children of Peru. Many of these children have been neglected by their own families and the society the live in. They have been taught that they are insignificant, burdensome and worthless through direct and indirect messages in their life experiences. In response to those messages, we seek to not only teach but demonstrate the intrinsic value that each person has as a child of God. We offer the resources, abilities and spiritual truth that we have through God's goodness to bring healing and restoration to the lives of the children under our care.
Practically speaking, each child at New Hope is given food, clothing, shelter, education and loving care. Orphaned and abandoned children in the district of Arequipa are placed in our home by a local judge after being turned in or found by the local police. The children at New Hope range in age from 2 to 20 years old. Children live in family groups determined by sex and age and remain with the same family group throughout their time here. They are given many opportunities to participate in church activities, cultural activities, and various extracurricular programs. When children graduate from high school, they begin a transitional program that prepares them for adult life and personal responsibilities. Our vision is to provide for vulnerable children and assist in raising them to be responsible, ethical and capable adults that can make a positive impact in their communities. |
