And Three More: Welcoming Santiago, Nicole and Emma

And Three More: Welcoming Santiago, Nicole and Emma

This week we took in 3 new children - Santiago (5), Nicole and Emma (3-year-old twins). Nicole and Emma are our third set of twins, and our second set of 3-year-old twins. New Hope is a busy place!!  We are still waiting on the full report about their situation, but what we know at this point is that their dad is completely out of the picture and their mom abandoned them. The kids had been living with their grandmother, but she is very elderly and struggled to care for them. She doesn't have a house of her own, so they were living with other people who couldn't accommodate them long-term. Recently they had to move out and were living on the streets, which is how the children were found and brought to New Hope. Santiago, Nicole and Emma are doing well at New Hope and are fitting in great with the other kids their age. We covet your prayers for them as they adjust to their new home at New Hope. Pray for healing from all the turmoil they've endured and for them to develop stability and...

On a mission: Reflections from Elizabeth

On a mission: Reflections from Elizabeth

At the start of 2017, Elizabeth headed out on a missions trip for 2 months. She is back home at New Hope now and recently wrote about the experience to share with some of her child sponsors. We are thankful to her for letting us share it here also. It is so encouraging to hear about her experiences and the things that made an impact. Her reflections are so similar to what many short-term mission teams who come to serve at New Hope share with us as well - the impact of experiencing a new culture and language, being blessed by the very people they have come to bless, and witnessing the joy and contentment of those who have so little. What a valuable experience for her to have!  We strive to support each of our kids in their own spiritual development, knowing that God is at work in the complexities of their unique life stories. We are so grateful that Elizabeth took the opportunity to be a part of this missions trip and pray for the ways God will continue His good work in her life! ...

Meet Flor

Meet Flor

When children come to New Hope, we see them as family. We make it our mission to care for them as individuals, focusing on their specific needs, personalities, and interests, advocating for them as if they have been adopted into our family.  Flor came to New Hope in August 2016 when she was 4 years old. She and her 3 sisters – Maria Fernanda (11),  Julia (7) and Ana Karina (10 months) - have been part of our New Hope family for 8 months now and we are so grateful for all the growth we've seen in their lives already. The girls came from a dysfunctional and abusive family situation where they had endured many traumatic experiences. Their mother has 6 children with three different fathers. None of the men had stayed involved in the lives of their children and over time, each of the children experienced trauma through the impact of neglect, alcohol addiction, and various abusive incidents in their family and community. Their mother's own abusive background and alcohol abuse left...
